RV and Boat Air Conditioners
No need to sweat while exploring the great outdoors
Air conditioners for your recreation vehicle of any kind (and we include boats here) might require a lot of features. These units may not be considered critical to either of these situations but for some people and in some cases, they may still have their place. If your RV becomes exceptionally hot and you have a health condition to worry about, an RV Air conditioner may be advisable. Similarly, it can get very hot on the water some days and if you want to stay out of the sun and the heat, a boat air conditioner may be a wise decision.
There are a number of critical components and features to look for when choosing an air conditioner in one of these situations:
- Noise level. Minimal noise is crucial to the successful operation of air conditioners in close quarters. In this limited space, with lack of insulation, you do not want to have to hear everything running inside your vehicle. To decrease the likelihood of disturbances associated with an air conditioner, choose a model specifically labeled as noise efficient.
- Efficiency. As with any type of air conditioner you're thinking of purchasing, a boat or RV air conditioner should provide maximum efficiency. Since its job is to cool a smaller area, it does not require as much power as a central air system or a ductless air conditioner; however, it still requires a significant amount of power for it is size.
- Size. You do not want a boat or RV system to impinge on the living area. The best advice is to size the unit according to the square footage that you want to cool.
It is important to consider these features when choosing an air conditioner for your RV. Air conditioning is an important element not only for comfort but also for health-related reasons. Living in an environment which is too hot can cause heat stroke, breathing problems and a number of other health-related issues which can be easily avoided with an air conditioner. Spending a few extra dollars on your RV unit and purchasing a high-end model might be well worth it.
