Portable Air Conditioners

Practical solutions for specific AC needs

Portable air conditioners are one of the most practical and useful air conditioning items on the market. This form of air conditioning is not meant to act as a primary cooling source for your home but can act as a complementary cooling source. This may come in handy in a number of situations. Some of these situations include the following:

  • Small apartments. It's a waste of money to have a window air conditioner or central air conditioning system in a small home. Portable models are efficient and do not cost a lot to operate – perfect for college and university students as well.
  • Awkward-sized windows. Some individuals cannot afford or do not need central air and have awkward sized or shaped windows which cannot fit a standard window air system. Portable air conditioners might be a perfect solution in these cases.
  • When other air conditioners are too expensive. Central air can be very expensive, and some houses require a number of window air conditioners in order to cool effectively. Portable air conditioners can act as window models without the hassle of installation or ruining the paintwork or woodwork around your windows.
  • During power outages. Many portable air conditioning systems have the ability to perform when electricity is not available or when the power goes out. Keep in mind that you will have to look for this feature on the label since some portable air conditioners still require electricity.
  • Camping. Some portable air conditioners can be used on vacations and camping trips. These are battery-operated and can be set up in tents or vehicles in order to provide efficient cooling at all times. Again, you must check the label to make sure these features coincide with the specific product you're looking to purchase.

Portable air conditioning units are very useful and efficient. If you're thinking of purchasing one of these units for your home, the costs will depend on the make and model you choose. Prices vary among manufacturing companies; however, most models are considerably less than any other form of air conditioning system on the market.

THANKS MUCH FOR THE INFO. AM PLANNING ON BUYING A UNIT THIS WEEK FOR MY FIFTH WHEEL CAMPER THAT REQUIRES 50 AMP SERVICE TO RUN THE AIR UNIT. MOST STATE PARK CAMPGROUNDS DO NOT OFFER MANY, IF ANY 50 AMP SERVICE. SO THIS PORTABLE UNIT WILL WORK GREAT ON ANY 30 AMP SERVICE WHICH IS WHAT MANY CAMPGROUNDS HAVE TO OFFER.
